Baseball has forever been America's pastime and despite recent efforts by the NFL, it always will be.I'm looking for writers who love the sport like it was their religion. I'm looking for writers to talk about the sport they grew up with, and never outgrew.I recently put out a "feeler" on craigslist, to gauge the interest of writers/fans who would be interested in writing about their favorite hometown team. The response was encouraging to say the least. In fact, it was overwhelming. The website is being built currently, and will be ready for beta testing within 7 days (plenty of time before opening day).I need potential candidates to submit work ASAP, so I have enough time to read all of the sample entries so everyone gets a fair shot at attaining the one writing job each major league team is alotted. If you have prior web work, short stories, chapters from novels, published work of any kind, or if you want to submit non-published original work that represents your passion for the game and your ability to articulate that passion, please submit the work that would help me in the decision making process.(Please keep your entries to the one or two samples that best represents your body of work)

The structure and revenue plan for this site is a little different than most.I'd love to elaborate, but I'd hate to release the family recipe, if you know what I'm saying. At first, there won't be a lot of excess cash that floats back down to the writers after expenses are paid. However,I'm banking on the way I structure this website, that a small but worthwhile stream will be able to reach the very people who deserve the rewards the most. That's right, you.In the end, it is up to you guys, to put the premium content on the site, to warrant the traffic that translates into more money. It's my pledge to you, that I'll put up a first class site. It's also my pledge that I'll choose worthy writers that will foster the kind of atmosphere that increases the web-site's chances to succeed. What I need, is some passionate fans to pledge to me, that they'll write quality, frequent, and pertinant articles that the fans of your perspective teams would enjoy and be proud of.I could care less if those fans agree with you, I just want it to be good.

Obviously, knowing how to use your spell checker would help your chances. Knowing how to properly site a source, will help your chances.Knowing how to link information within your web articles will help your chances.Knowing the difference between plagerism and an original thought will help your chances. But I'd rather have a passionate fan who can get a message across (lacking editing skills), over a boring writer just wanting to pad a resume.Based on the responses from my "feeler", I don't anticipate this being an issue.I just wanted to mention this, so that everyone reading this ad understands that you'll get a fair shot at getting this gig.If you're thinking about submitting samples at all, I encourage you to do so.

By the way, the name of the site is called HomeTownNine.com and its going to be a lot of fun.In the same breath, I want it to be serious enough for the site to be respected as being a viable source for baseball information and opinion.Pen-names will not be permitted.I'd hope the writers submitting work to this site would be serious enough about the information that they run, that they'd want their name proudly hanging next to it.

Thank you.Good luck.
