Sermo is currently looking for a full-time Senior Manager for Public Relations. This is a highly-visible position and a dream job: You will drive Sermo’s PR efforts, managing our external media relations team, conference and speaking schedules, dinner events, corporate social responsibility and other outwardly facing efforts. Responsibilities
- Work directly with Director, Marketing and Communications and CMO to develop annual PR strategy.
- Act as an idea catalyst for our external PR agency, continuously equipping them with story ideas and pitch angles that sustain momentum for strategies and optimize agency performance.
- Ensure significant national and regional press coverage and sustain consistent targeted media exposure.
- Create new story angles and be a very strong “pitch” person, complementing company’s PR agency.
- Draft and route press releases for approval.
- Respond to incoming inquiries from media, and engage agency as needed.
- Assist in development and creation of all press materials including writing and editing press releases, pitch letters, fact sheets, media kits, FAQs and other collaterals.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with healthcare, consumer and business journalists. Must have good knowledge of long lead, short lead and regional press contacts.
- Organize and execute major product press launches, desk side appointments and special events.
- Develop and manage conference and speaking calendar for senior management.
- Develop and manage nationwide dinner series for Sermo CEO with physicians in key cities.
- Research and network to identify appropriate charity, co-marketing, sponsorship, and promotional activities.
- Monitor Sermo content and external news environment to identify opportunities to build Semo’s media profile.
Qualifications
- 5-10 years PR experience, at least 2 in the healthcare arena
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A high-energy team player when it comes to collaborating and contributing ideas
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing several projects simultaneously
- Strong business skills required, including high proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, good communication and presentation skills, excellent report-writing ability and strong project management capabilities
- Bachelors degree required, MBA a plus
