Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston (OCB) was established in 1969 to offer patients the highest quality eye care and laser/surgical treatment.OCB has nine practice locations in the greater Boston area and Cape Cod.In addition, OCB has three affiliated surgery and laser centers. OCB is seeking a full-time Senior Accountant to work in our Boston office.
The Senior Accountant will be assisting the Controller with accounting functions including reporting of the financial operations of the medical practice and its affiliates.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelors degree in finance or accounting.
• Five years of accounting experience including two years of accounting experience in a health care organization preferred.
Alternative to minimum qualifications or experience:
• Additional appropriate education may be substituted for one year of accounting experience in a health care organization.
Job Duties:
• Prepares monthly general and standard journal entries, financial statements and comparative reports, and account reconciliations.
• Performs monthly close process in order to produce timely and accurate financial statements.
• Participates in the preparation of the monthly Physician Compensation Formula which allocates practice revenue and expenses by individual physicians.
• Maintains and reviews cost center and appropriation accounts, including trial balances to verify accuracy with coding, classifying and posting.
• Assists in preparation for external financial audits.
• Prepares monthly spreadsheet analysis, as assigned.
• Participates in professional development activities.
• Maintains strictest confidentiality.
• Performs related work as required.
