The Multisensory Training Institute of the nonprofit Stratford Foundation (see www.readmti.org) provides professional development courses (teacher training) to schools and school districts throughout the United States in the area of literacy and the teaching of reading.MTI focuses heavily on underperforming and underserved schools that tend to have less funding and ability to access teacher training programs.
This position, Business Development Manager, reports to the Director who is an education/ reading specialist. Among other responsibilities, it involves sales activities seeking to promote interest in MTI's professional development programs, qualifying sales opportunities (including "cold" contacts) moving them through the sales process including closing sales. Contacts will includeschool officials and curriculum and reading specialists as well as relevant government officials at the federal and state levels. This position will also make similar contacts to corporate leaders/ managers to seek to obtain substantial corporate sponsorship of professional training for specific underperforming schools. This position also provides marketing communication support, such ascommunication planning, messaging, content creation, editing and execution in support of relevant corporate needs.With support, will manage the production of appropriate marketing materials through to completion; oversee maintenance and improvements in web site; create and oversee the distribution of email bulletins, and oversee maintenance of the marketing/ sales data base. Will also attend regional and national literacy conferences to promote MTI's services and obtain school/ teacher contacts for follow-up to seek to obtain training engagements for MTI.
As MTI is a small organization, the Business Development Manager will, as necessary, assist from time-to-time in performing tasks normally part of the duties of the Marketing Assistant.
Experience in direct sales is required while some experiece in marketing is additionally helpful.Some formal coursework in marketing at the graduate or undergrauate levels is desirable.Creative, self-directed, self-motivatedindividual.
