Position Title:Property Accountant Reports to:Financial Manager Position Purpose: Performs accounting functions under close supervision, including reviewing and preparing monthly financial statements and reporting for multifamily and commercial properties.Ensures accurate accounting records and transactions.Responsible for posting to the general ledger, performing account reconciliation and budgeting for review by the Financial Manager prior to release. Essential Functions: The following list of essential job functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented or changed as necessary •Reviews and prepares monthly financial statements and reporting for multifamily and commercial properties, Accrual and Cash basis •Prepares interim and year-end audit work papers •Reviews and approves invoices •Performs full-cycle accounting transactions through the General Ledger •Completes bank reconciliations •Prepares budgets and re-forecasting •Prepares replacement reserve requests •Performs cash management functions •Maintains escrow balances, including real estate, insurance, and replacement reserves •Performs escalation calculations for commercial properties •Acts as a team member with all employees of the Northland Investment Corporation staff •Complies with all on policies and procedures •Carries out other duties as assigned by supervisors or managers Specific Job Knowledge, Skill and Ability The individual must posses the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. •Advanced competency with computer, peripherals and variety of software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and operating in a LAN and WAN environment •Good verbal and written communication skills •Ability to handle pressure, meet deadlines and set priorities for workload •Ability to interpret responsibilities and possess the initiative and willingness to assume additional responsibilities •Ability to work collaboratively with coworkers and maintain a cooperative, productive atmosphere •Thorough understanding of full-cycle accounting transactions, and their effects on the General Ledger •Clear understanding of Escrow balance including, real estate, insurance, and replacement reserves Experience •2-3 years accounting experience, public or private. Exposure to real estate preferred. Education •Bachelors Degree preferred
