We are seeking a highly motivated Chemical or Mechanical Engineer for our Technical Applications group to work on project-specific process development, economic evaluation, costing, and documentation. This position will be based in our Cambridge, MA office. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will work in a team environment coordinating with the Business Development, Engineering, and Process Development groups. Work will include a wide variety of tasks focused on engineering/design development for projects and continued improvement of products. The candidate will work with Business Development to develop technical detail and define targeted designs for potential customers. S/he will develop specifications, descriptions, and costs for proposed GreenFuel systems including test, pilot, and commercial-scale systems. Specific tasks will include developing design modifications for site-specific applications, reviewing proposed system for cost savings, and ensuring designs meet good engineering practices. It is desirable that the candidate also be able to provide modeling of expected system performance for heating/cooling and mass balance and/or evaluation of regulatory/construction issues for sites. The candidate will also support the Project Engineering group. S/he will execute hand-over of projects from Business Development to Engineering and will also develop and deliver documentation packages and training for operating systems. Qualifications: The candidate must have demonstrated experience with process design, modeling, and evaluation of capital and operating costs for large-scale water treatment, chemical, and/or power plants. Experience with fermentation and/or cell cultures would be beneficial. Field operation experience desired. Experience with projects from inception through commercial operation is a plus. The candidate will also have evidence of strong attention to detail, excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Candidate will show a history of working well within a team, flexibility, and responsiveness to changing demands. Candidate must be able to climb ladders/stairs, lift 40 lbs., and work outside. The assignment requires occasional travel to field sites, including those at international locations. Minimum education: BS in engineering or equivalent, with 5-10 years experience.Prior experience working in industrial settings is highly desired; proficiency with Word and Excel a must.
