PASTEL PORTRAIT Instructor: Janet Monafo Date: Friday, May 2, 2008 Time: 9am-4pm 6 PDPs for MA educators Fee: $150.00 - materials included Janet Monafo has been investigating the psychological aspects of the human figure and self portrait in pastel for over thirty years. A widely respected artist, she co-edited “The Best of Pastel” and was selected for the Pastel Society Hall of Fame in 2002. During this one-day pastel portrait workshop you will be shown methods of organizing the proportions of the head and features by blocking in simple planes and values. Color temperature and 'lost' and 'found' edges will be introduced. Working from life, students will be encouraged to work loosely, with many beginnings to help establish an expressive sense of unity within the portrait.
