Industry-leading application services provider is seeking an energetic and passionate technical professional or recent graduate for its Quincy, MA location.
Under the guidance of the senior systems administrator, responsibilities will include:
- Day to day monitoring and operation of Linux, Solaris, Windows and other servers as well as network components; identifying and resolving incidents
- Ensuring the functional integrity of all systems; maintaining patch levels
- Inspection and execution of production change control orders as submitted
- Building and configuring physical and virtual servers (web, application, database) to business requirements and company standards
- Creating and/or maintaining systems documentation for as-built system implementations
- 24x7x365 on-call support as needed
Qualifications include:
- Technically proficient – you’re probably the go-to gal or guy for fixing PC issues for your family and friends.
- Real life experience and moderate proficiency with an operating system other than Windows. Solaris, any Linux variant, HP/UX – just something outside of the Microsoft world.
- A positive attitude to providing support, a willingness/dedication to owning problems to resolution, and a passion for technology and innovation.
- Desire to gain experience in a 24x7 customer-facing systems environment. If you’ll learn, we will teach and give you the opportunity to grow.
- Technologies present in the environment (you’ll have a chance to learn them all): Apache, Tomcat/JBoss, Oracle, Red Hat ES, VMWare ESX, Windows Server 2003, Checkpoint firewalls, Cisco LAN/WAN gear, Mitel telephony, EMC SAN, Windows XP, Microsoft Office 2007.
